Not Wet Enough to Dampen our Fun!

It did rain today, just as the weather forecasted, but it completely cleared up soon after noon. The positive was that we didn't have to walk from ride to ride in the drizzling rain, the negative was that the clearer skies brought out the crowds! It definately was a lot emptier in the morning hours!

We had a great time. I felt like in many ways, this was our best trip yet with Sam. He did a much better job at not "losing" it when he didn't get to immediately get on a ride. He was also very excited about the different rides and the characters. Olivia also enjoyed herself, and I think the Winnie the Pooh ride was her favorite. I had to drag her off, kicking and screaming! Soon after, she saw Tigger walking through the park, and took off running to give him a hug. And her new phrase of the day was "I tared" (I scared). One of the first rides we went on was Snow White, and halfway through when the evil queen changes into the old woman, she kept saying, "I tared". It was really cute! She got over it quick, so I don't think she was too traumatized!

The three older kids were great sports about going on all the kiddie rides with the little ones, but we were able to sneak in a few bigs ones for them. All in all, it was a great and exhausting day. The kids are all asleep now, and we'll see how tomorrow goes!

We're headed to Disneyland

We are leaving today for Disneyland. We love that place! It's supposed to rain all day on Sunday, plus with it being the Superbowl, we hope it means the park is pretty dead.

Funny story about the kids yesterday. I was making some Quinoa Banana muffins, when I realized that John had fed the last of the bananas to the little ones. I was halfway through the recipe, but feeling to lazy to run to the store. So, I had the 3 older kids run down to the truckstop to buy some. It's a 5 minute walk from our house, through the desert and they love it! I gave them $12 with instructions that they could pick out a little treat and then bring back the change. Well, they returned a bit later, very excited because the bananas only came to $3 and they had a bag full of candy and chips! Needless to say, there was no change and those were some pretty expensive bananas! I may have to rethink that one next time! LOL!

Well, that lasted long!

My New Year's Resolution to write here daily, lasted about as long as most of my resolutions! Hopefully, the diet goes better! LOL!

Today was Sunday and it was a nice quiet day. We went to church in the morning and then just hung out at home all day.

Sam started back to school this past week, and he was so happy to be back. He practically ran down the hall to his classroom. I'm so glad he loves it like he does! They are so good to him.

Homeschool is going great, even with us being back and forth between two places. We've gotten pretty good at keeping things packed up in their back packs and hauling them back and forth! We also took a field trip on Tuesday to the Springs Preserve. It also happened to be the Mayor's State of the City Address that night at the same museum we were visiting. We are absolutely convinced we passed the mayor on our way out, but who knows! LOL!

Drive home from Utah

We had a wonderful trip up to Utah for New Year's and made the long trip home today. We drove up two days after Christmas and spent 5 great days there playing with Umma and Poppy and Aunt Nancy. Thanks so much, guys, for your hospitality!

We also got to enjoy lots of great snow. I will attach some pics below! It was a lot of fun to take the kids sledding. I haven't decided which one loved it the most! But I think it is fair to say that they all had a great time! Sam was in 7th heaven! He crashed a few times and came up covered in snow, but just did the sign for more, with a great big grin on his face! He came home afterwards and slept for 3 hours! I think he was a little worn out.

On New Year's Eve, we ate lots of fun food, homemade taco salads with lots of other snacks! The kids watched movies and the adults put together a 500 piece puzzle. We finished just after midnight! It was so much fun.

On a sad note, I received the news today that my Uncle George passed away at 3:30 this morning. He has been sick for quite sometime, but he will still be missed. My prayers are with Aunt Carma and all her family. My favorite memory of Uncle George was how he always loved to "steal" our noses! I loved the trick as a child. He was a jolly man with a big grin and big heart. We were blessed to spend Thanksgiving with him, even though his health was quite poor. But, I am thankful we had that opportunity.

Happy New Year 2008!!!

Well, a new year is here! I always love the feeling of a new start. A whole year stretches before us, empty and ready for all possibilities! That's a great thing to look forward to.

As always, I have a list of resolutions, but one of the main ones is to update this blog on a daily basis. I have much to be thankful for each day, and a wonderful family to share my life with. I hope I can do a better job of journaling our amazing adventure!
